πSUPERMAN: MAN OF TOMORROW (2020) π [Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Combo Pack]! π
SUPERMAN: Man Of Tomorrow Synopsis
Meet Clark Kent. Sent to Earth as an infant from the dying planet Krypton, he arrived with as many questions as the number of light-years he traveled. Now a young man, he makes his living in Metropolis as an intern at the Daily Planet – alongside reporter Lois Lane – while secretly wielding his alien powers of flight, super-strength and x-ray vision in the battle for good. Follow the fledgling hero as he engages in bloody battles with intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo and before fighting for his life with the alien Parasite. The world will learn about Superman…but first, Superman must save the world!
Why Superman: Man of Tomorrow Should Start a New DC Animated Universe
The DC Animated Movie Universe ended with Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, as Darkseid's war was so devastating that reality had to be rebooted. Flash once more ran to alter the past, creating a second Flashpoint to reset the Multiverse and give birth to a new era, one which fans haven't gotten a glimpse of yet. While Superman: Man of Tomorrow isn't the film that'll kickstart a new animated universe, given the tone of the story and how it's expansive due to its cosmic scope, it should have been the new jumping-off point.
Whether it's more galactic stories or action on Earth, Man of Tomorrow has a different essence and a unique aesthetic. It feels like a Marvel formula that the DC Animated Movie Universe has never managed to nail down, at least not like this. It embodies the right components and lays a template down for what DC's animated movies should be moving forward, inspiring and uplifting viewers rather than drenching everything in blood and skepticism.
SUPERMAN: MAN OF TOMORROW REVIEW
DC Animation’s latest offering kick-starts a new era for their slate and begins with a fresh version of the timeless Superman origin story. This stripped-down and re-imagined version echoes the classic origin story that we all know and love but updates it where necessary. Having a fresh set of vocal talent helps to relaunch this DC slate in a good way too, offering a new slant to familiar characters, with an animation style that is easily accessible to all – but those looking for a bold new style will be disappointed. It’s not too different to what we have seen before.
The start of this re-telling of the Superman origin story works very well. Having both Scrubs alumni Neil Flynn and Bellamy Young as the Kent’s adds a nice grounding to the world and gives Clark a nice moral compass. Darren Criss voices him very well, adding some depth and feeling to the young man who is torn about his place in the world. He also bounces off the wonderful Alexandra Daddario who is perfectly cast as the feisty Lois Lane. Having Lois and Clark as young reporters adds a new dimension and Daddario nails the role.
The story progresses well to a certain point but after the creature Parasite emerges, I felt the momentum shifted, and as a result staggered to its inevitable conclusion. The finale was also a tad underwhelming given that this is supposed to be a relaunch of DC Animation’s output, so the opportunity was there to go really big with both the concept and its implementation. Instead, this ties up the story threads in a tidy and predictable way, but one that lacks risk or any real energy
Superman: Man of Tomorrow is a good starting point for anyone not familiar with Superman (if any of those people exist) whilst delivering a thoroughly enjoyable and relatable iteration to the classic fans of the hero (of which I am one). Even though the finale doesn’t have the wow factor, the set-up for this this new Superman and Lois partnership looks very encouraging and will hopefully lead to more big screen adventures for Criss and Daddario. And when you have a villain as good as Zachary Quinto, I’m sure there’s plenty more adventures to experience with this Superman in the future.
SUPERMAN: MAN OF TOMORROW' BLASTS OFF IN NEW CLIP
A Superman: Man of Tomorrow clip shows the Man of Steel saving the day as a rocket goes off course and threatens the city.
The clip features Clark Kent without his Superman suit, so we can guess he either wasn't wearing it for some reason or maybe he doesn't have it yet in this scene.
Superman: Man of Tomorrow is an animated film about Superman's introduction to Metropolis and the world from director Chris Palmer and writer Tim Sheridan. With a new visual style and star-studded cast (Darren Criss as Superman, Zachary Quinto as Lex Luthor, Alexandra Daddario as Lois Lane), Man of Tomorrow sees Superman go from Daily Planet intern to savior of the planet as he battles Lobo and Parasite.

Yes, DC’s newest animated movie is a Superman story. But it’s not like any one you’ve ever seen…
What a wonderful word, brimming with possibility and hope.
The upcoming release of Superman: Man of Tomorrow has oodles of new—balanced with a healthy dose of the familiar.
For forty films over the past thirteen years, Warner Bros. Animation, DC and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment have rallied behind the stellar creative vision of producers Bruce Timm and James Tucker to bring forth tales of heroism and villainy in their own stylish manner
Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Darren Criss is one of those amazing gifts. DC Universe Movies have had a wide array of talent giving voice to the Man of Steel, from Tim Daly, Jerry O’Connell and Mark Harmon to George Newbern, Kyle MacLachlan and Jason Isaacs, to name a few. But Criss is the most geek-centric actor to step behind the microphone to date, an absolute comic nerd who revels in the role. He was so excited, we thought he might show up wearing a cape.
MORE OF REVIEWS -> SUPERMAN: Man Of Tomorrow
"So we all know, more or less the origin of Superman. But this particular take on the Man of Steel, or Man of Tomorrow in this case, focused more on his being an alien in a human world and him coming to terms with that. You could used this metaphor for just about anything where people may judge you harshly for just being who you are. Intolerance in all its evil forms being what it is. But this is a fun, hopeful movie that gives us more than I expected. A really good addition to the continued winners that are the DC direct to Video Animated movies. If you are a fan of Big Blue, pick this up. If you're a fan of the other DC movies, pick this up. And that's about all I have to see about it. Thanks for reading and have a nice day!"
"DescriptionYoung Clark Kent works as an intern at the Daily Planet while learning how to save the city of Metropolis. This difference in gravity allows Superman to lift objects that measure in the tons. In fact, the comics have put Superman's strength at a point where he's able to lift around 2 billion tons!
In a Tom King, Clay Mann, Jordie Bellaire, and John Workman short story (via ScreenRant) “Of Tomorrow,” Superman is depicted living billions of years in Earth's future. And he will live (literally) until the end of the Earth. So yes, he is immortal.
16 issues from 1995 to 1999
Action Comics, The Adventures of Superman, Superman, and Superman: The Man of Steel"
I thought Zack Snyder's Man of Steel was good, but if the plot of that movie mirrored this one, I think Man of Steel would have gotten a better reaction from the fans."
